INTERNSHIP PHASE - 1

WEEKLY REFLECTION

WEEK - 1

03-01-2022 to 07-01-2022

 As a part of the B Ed curriculum, the first phase of school internship program was conducted. The internship program was started on 3rd January 2022. Twelve trainees from different optional subjects were assigned to take classes in Govt. Vocational Higher Secondary School Thattamala. The first Bell was at 9:15 a.m. The classes starts at 9:30 a.m. after the morning prayer. The working hours of the school is from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. There are four periods in a day. The headmistress of the school and the concern teachers gave an idea about the classes to all of us. I was assigned to take classes in 8 C and was given the time table of the same.

 On the first day, we met the headmistress and handed over the attendance register. Then we went to observe the classes.

 On the second day I had class on the third period. To make the class interesting, I asked the students to introduce themselves in English. After engaging the students in a friendly talk,  I started the lesson 'The School For Sympathy' in the unit 5- Share and Care. Everyday I took one or two paragraphs of the lesson. I made the class more interesting by displaying chart Flashcards and PowerPoint presentations and that made the class more effective.

 I believe that I made the students understand the passages well. The use of teaching aids help me a lot to convey the meaning to the students.

WEEK - 2

10-01-2022 to 15-01-2022

The second week of school internship was from 10-01-2022 to 15-01-2022. I continued the lesson 'The School For Sympathy' and completed the lesson. Use of flashcards, chart and powerpoint slides made the classes effective. I got a substitution class for 1st standard. On Thursday, I got another substitution class for 9th C. After that I was assigned to take remedial class for a student of 7th standard. I went to observe the classes on Saturday.

WEEK - 3

17-01-2022 to 22-01-2022

The third week of school internship was from 17-01-2022 to 22-01-2022. I continued the lesson ' The School For Sympathy'. Usage of power point, flash cards, charts and activity cards  made the class effective. I conducted diagnostic test. I distributed the question papers and made the students to answer the questions.

Due to COVID spike Govt declared that the schools for class 1-9 shuts from 21-01-2022. Online classes will be conducted instead of offline classes. We together created a new time table for students and confirmed the timetable with our concerned teacher. On 22-01 -2022, Saturday  we were assigned to take online classes at home. I began the class with a new chapter 'The Merchant Of Venice' by William Shakespeare.

WEEK - 4

24-01-2022 to 29-01-2022

The fourth week of School Internship was from 24-01-2022 to 29-01-2022. On 24-01-2022, as a part of National Girl Child Day, the school conducted various competitions such as essay writing, story writing, poem writing, and drawing competition.

Due to COVID spike, we were assigned to take online classes at home till 26-01-2022. I continued the lesson 'The Merchant Of Venice'.

On 27-01-2022, we went to the school and took online classes. After completing the lesson, I started a new lesson 'My Grandmother's House' by Kamala Surayya. On the last day of this week, I took the lesson 'Solitude' by Ella Wheeler Wilcox and completed the unit. Usage of powerpoint slides, flashcards made the classes effective and interesting. 

WEEK - 5

31-01-2022 to 05-02-2022

The fifth week of School Intership was from 31-01-2022 to 05-02-2022. We were assigned to take online class at home for this week. On 01-02-2022, I took a class regarding 'Health Education'. School-based health education helps students acquire functional health knowledge, and strengthens attitudes, beliefs, and practice skills that needed to adopt and maintain healthy behaviours throughout their lives.

I was assigned to take two lessons from the Unit 4, Flowers and Showers. I took the lesson 'The Nightingale and The Rose' and discussed the activities in the textbook on the following days. On 05-02-2022, the School conducted Sugama Hindi exam at the School itself. 

WEEK - 6

07-02-2022 to 11-02-2022

The sixth week of School Internship was from 07-02-2022 to 11-02-2022. We were assigned to take online class. I taught the lesson 'A Day In The Country' during this week from unit 4 - Flowers and Showers. Usage of powerpoint slides, flashcards made the classes effective and interesting. 

WEEK - 7

14-02-2022 to 16-02-2022

The seventh week of School Internship Phase -1 was from 14-02-2022 to 16-02-2022. This is the last week of our Internship Program. The School reopened after the shutdown. We went to the school and I revised the lessons taught for VIII C. On Monday, I conducted Achievement test in online mode at 6.00pm by allotting 2hours time. Then on Wednesday, we met our concerned teachers and HM to sign our records and attendance register. At the end of the day, HM conducted a meeting for us to discuss about our experience we had in the school and we left the school at 3.30pm.
